Kalpana Patowary mesmerising her audience singing Chhaparahiya Purbi LIVE at "हरिहर क्षेत्र सोनपुर मेला 2019 Bihar. Harihar Kshetra Mela famously known as Sonpur Mela - Asia's Oldest Cattle Fair is administered by District of Chapra with support from Bihar Govt promoted by Tourism Ministry of Bihar held in Kartik month, on the confluence of river Ganges(Gandak).This festival attracts visitors from all over Asia. Till date, it is the biggest cattle fair of Asia and stretches on from fifteen days to one month. The Sonpur Cattle Fair once used to attract traders from places as distant as Central Asia.


लोक धुनों में पूर्वी एक अत्यन्त प्रचलित एवं लोक प्रिय धुन है जो उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्वांचल तथा बिहार के पश्चिमाचल में बड़े चाव से गाय जाता है ! पूर्वी के कई अंग है जिन्हे बहुत कम लोग जानते है ! पूर्वी आम, पूर्वी छापरहिया और पटनहिया का ज्ञान तो बहुतो को है, किन्तु इसके अतिरिक्त दारुन पूर्वी, चम्पई पूर्वी और धन्नड़ पूर्वी अपनी - अपनी अलग पहचान रखते है, जिसे कम ही लोग जानते है ! मात्राओ और धुनों में थोड़ा सा अंतर हुआ करता है | इन धुनों पर भी इक्का दुक्का हमारे पारम्परिक गीत विधमान है | गायक इन्हे यदा - कदा गाते भी जरूर है | पर इनके नाम और पहचान से वाकिफ नहीं हैं कि वह कौन पूर्वी गा रहे हैं | --'लोक रागिनी' भोलानाथ गहमरी

Chhaprahiya Purvi is a magnificent folk form of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, findings its trails back home in Chhapra, and therefore aptly called Chhaprahiya Purvi.This Bhojpuri Chhaprahiya Purvi folk style has became a milestone of Kalpana Patowary's musical career as she became The First Woman to Record and Sing in this particular Chhaprahiya Purvi folk genre in 2004. Prior to her work, Chhaprahiya Purvi was a male preserve as it requires a huge and gigantic vocal range.

Kalpana Patowary is an Indian folk and playback singer singing assiduously in 30 Indian vernaculars. She is leading a Mission titled 'Folk Heritage And Cultural Identity - Who Am I' across India creating Respectfulness in young Indian hearts about our Folk Culture.
